7-year-old boy killed in celebratory firing in East Champaran | Patna News



MOTIHARI: A seven-year-old boy was killed and three persons were injured in celebratory firing during a marriage procession at Sishani village under the Pakaridayal police station area in East Champarandistrict on Wednesday night. After a nightlong search, police recovered the body of the boy, Gobind Kumar, from the bank of the Kachhua river near Sishani village on Thursday morning.
The accused had allegedly buried the boy’s body on the bank of the river to mislead the police.
East Champaran SP Kantesh Kumar Mishra said while the body of the boy was recovered from the riverbank, police were trying to gather information about the injured persons.
“It is still not known where the injured persons are undergoing treatment,” he added.
Pakaridayal SDPO Subodh Kumar said three persons were detained for interrogation in connection with the case.
“As those from the groom’s side, who had come from Bishambharpur in Muzaffarpur district, reached the house of the bride, daughter of one Akhilesh Paswan, the celebratory firing started. A bullet hit Govind’s head and he died on the spot. Three persons were injured in the firing. The victim was the son of one Jai Kishor Paswan, a resident of Sishani village,” the SDPO added.
A police team is camping at the village to avoid any untoward incident. “The search for injured persons is on,” the SDPO said.
