Chhattisgarh businessman gets 9 years for forcing wife into unnatural sex | Raipur News

RAIPUR: A fast-track court in Chhattisgarh‘s Durg has sentenced a prominent businessman from Bhilai-Durg twin city to nine years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) for forcing his wife into unnatural sex.
According to the prosecution, the wife began facing mental and physical torture, including forced unnatural sex, soon after her marriage in 2007. She was also harassed for dowry.
Troubled by all this, she left her in-laws’ house and decided to raise her daughter as a single mother. She moved back to her parents with her daughter in 2016 and filed a complaint at Supela police station on May 7, 2016, under IPC Section 377 for unnatural sex and Section 498A for dowry harassment against her husband and his parents.
“Considering the nature of the crime, granting the benefit of probation to the accused would not be justifiable”, the court order said, adding that his crime fell under Section 377 of IPC, which is a punishable offence. He was also sentenced to a year’s RI and fined Rs 1,000 under IPC Section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt). Both the sentences will run concurrently.
His parents were also jailed for 10 months each on the same charge.
